There the following children were born: Eugenia (your grandma), Sam, Maria (who died as an infant), Robert, Michael (who died in the infantry), and finally Mary, whose mother died right after she was born.

Both your grandparents were born on the Island of Malta. Grandpa, Grezio Sultana (named after Our Lady of Grace), was born on the smaller Island of Gozo. Later the family moved to the main Island and settled in the town of Zabbar. There were six children, two boys and four girls. Grandpa was the youngest child. The family did not immigrate to the U.S. Grandma, Eugenia Vella, was born on the main island of Malta, in the town of Msida. There were ten children–four boys and six girls. Grandma’s father, John Vella, left Malta as a young man to find employment. He was a carpenter by trade. He migrated to Tunisia, directly across the Mediterranean from Malta. He settled in the capital city of Tunis. It was there that he met a young French woman, Conchetta Bonaventeur, whom he married. Four of their ten children, Conchetta, Jenny, Henry, and Josephine, were born in Tunis. The family then moved to Malta and settled in the town of Msida. There the following children were born: Eugenia (your grandma), Sam, Maria (who died as an infant), Robert, Michael (who died in the infantry), and finally Mary, whose mother died right after she was born."
